Heisman Trophy talk really will finally be worthwhile after this weekend when many of the top candidates (read: Big 12 quarterbacks) face their first big challenges all season. However, If you’re looking for a status update on the race, you need not look any further than the Heisman Pundit who has Chase Daniel in the driver’s seat. Clearly, I’m a Javon Ringer fan but don’t confuse that with my belief he should be a part of this conversation. We’ll wait until the Spartans face Ohio State to assess his merits. [Heisman Pundit]

I continue to be disappointed that I haven’t gotten a chance to watch Georgia Tech in action this year. Paul Johnson’s triple option attack has worked well, and you’d have to consider the Yellow Jackets a threat to win the ACC. That’s more than you can say for Chan Gailey’s teams.
